In the event that Kamala Harris does not win the US presidential election, Nigerian artist Charles Oputa, better known by his stage name Charly Boy, has threatened to file for divorce from his 47-year marriage.
Following U.S. President Joe Biden’s recent decision to withdraw from the Democratic Party race and support his vice president, Kamala Harris, as the party’s nominee, this pledge was made.
The prominent Nigerian musician and activist Charly Boy stated his firm conviction that America is ready to elect its first Black female president, following the election of Barack Obama as the country’s first Black male president.

Charly Boy called Kamala Harris his “crush” on Instagram and emphasized the importance of her possible presidency for American and international affairs.
He wrote in Pidgin: “If dis my crush, Kamala Harris no win the USA presidential election, I swear, I go divorce my wife of 47yrs.
“After the first Black Male President, America deserves the first Black Female President.
“Sorry rednecks. Dats how we Roll.”
