The Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, is expected in the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi, on Monday, June 13, 2022, to review firsthand the chaos observed at the Islamic Senior High School, Abrepo.
According to a police statement, an investigation into the occurrence has already begun.
“The Inspector-General of Police is proceeding to Kumasi for a first-hand assessment of the situation. The Police have commenced an investigation into the incident and further developments will be communicated,” the statement said.
According to Citi News, at least 30 kids from the school were sent to the hospital after police allegedly used tear gas on them when they were protesting regular knockdowns in front of the school.

In the course of their protest, the kids were alleged to have blocked the road in front of their school, leading administrators to summon the police.
The police have been accused of employing excessive force to clear the streets of demonstrating students.
However, the police department stated in a statement that it has restored peace to the school, and that several of its personnel, as well as students, are seeking medical care after being injured.
“The Police managed to disperse the rioting students and calm has since been restored… Some students and some police officers have been taken to the hospital for medical attention,” the Ghana Police Service said.
