The Member of Parliament for Cape Coast North, Dr. Kwamena Minta Nyarku has attributed his failure to do more to improve the health sector in his constituency to the delayed release of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) fund due him.
This he said has been since he took office two years ago as the MP for Cape Coast North.
He said, although he has plans of undertaking health-related projects in Cape Coast North, it has been very difficult to roll out his plans because of the unavailability of the fund.
“We’re looking at the three pillars, which is the empowerment, entrepreneurship, and then sustainable development. And then most of the projects I’ve done so far have revolved around these three pillars. The only challenge I’ve had so far has been my ability to really improve more in the health sector. The reason is that the NHIA funds that are supposed to be released have not been received two years down the line and it’s been very difficult trying to hammer in there” he said.
Speaking on the Atlantic Wave on how his first two years in office have been, Dr. Minta Nyarku said it is his hope that when parliament resumes on January 24, 2022, he will push for the fund to be given to him.
“So that I can be able to improve a lot of the CHPs compound that is within Cape Coast north constituency, he continued.
The MP for Cape Coast North however said he has been able to improve education in his constituency.
This he said has been largely due to payments received from the Common Fund and the GetFund
Meanwhile, he has also indicated his willingness to continue working with the inhabitants of Cape Coast North to make the constituency a better place for all.
He said his office is open to suggestions that can help develop Cape Coast adding that it is important for individuals who have already submitted suggestions to him to continuously follow up as their suggestions are helping to make Cape Coast a better place.
