Fancy Gadam, a Tamale-based singer, has said he still hasn’t recovered from the crash that killed four of his fans three years ago.
The four were among a large group of ardent fans who gathered at Tamale Airport to greet Nigerian singer Patoranking ahead of Fancy Gadam’s big concert at Tamale Stadium.
The concert was cancelled, and there was a temporary ban on activities in the city as a result of the incident. Fancy Gadam, in an interview with Graphic Showbiz, said the deaths were still haunting him.
“Since the incident, I’ve been through a lot of problems, including a lot of therapy. For more than a year, I had more than four counsellors talking to me.”
“I had so many thoughts going through my mind,” he said, “that I don’t think I’ll ever be able to get over it and fully erase it from my mind.”
According to Fancy Gadam, who has been absent from the music scene for some time, he gave up on music but was convinced to return by his management and a few close friends.
“I didn’t want anything to do with music, which is why you haven’t heard from me in a long time. I was still struggling with the case, and I wish it hadn’t happened because I don’t joke with my fans, and losing four of them was a massive blow to me,” he said.
The second reason he wanted to return to music, he explained, was the frequent calls and messages from his fans asking when he will release a new album.
“These are people who helped me when I was a nobody. They show me love on a daily basis, and it would be unfair for me to simply forget about music and leave them there, but if I had my way, I would give up music entirely and focus on other things,” he added.

Fancy Gadam, who has songs like Formula, Absolute Cheat, Antidote, Ma Boy, and Customer and has collaborated with musicians like Sarkodie, Medikal, Patoranking, Kwesi Arthur, and Kofi Mole, said he is almost finished with an EP when asked when he will release anything new.
“My EP is almost ready, and I’m sure the fans will enjoy it. I took my time working on the EP, and believe me when I say that I have some of the best artists on it. Whether it’s because of the coronavirus or not, I’m going to break through this year,” he announced.
