Former 2020 candidate John Dumelo, who came just short of winning the seat, is optimistic about his chances, pointing to the primary disadvantage of incumbent Member of Parliament Lydia Seyram Alhassan.

He seemed upbeat during a recent X Q&A, saying, “I don’t get nervous.” Having gained insight from my blunders in 2020, I am capitalizing on her vulnerability to win this election. Her advantage over me in terms of resources is her vulnerability.”
When he explained why he was running for office, he focused on how he wanted to be involved in decisions that would improve the lives of Ghanaians, especially those in the Ayawaso West constituency, and how he also wanted to effectively represent their interests and effect real change.
