Ghana’s health Minister, Mr. Kwaku Agyemang Manu has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
ATL FM News gathers the minister, who was admitted last Tuesday at the University of Ghana Medical Centre is receiving treatment and is reported to be in a stable condition.
Mr. Manu is the first Minister and High-profile politician in Ghana, known to have contracted the coronavirus. The Minister is reported to have taken some time off work and has not reported since then.
Meanwhile, leadership in parliament has instructed that legislators and other staff in the parliament house who tested positive for the virus, stay away from the parliament house.
Majority leader in parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, has insisted that members and staff of Parliament as well as journalists who had been contacted by the medical team for COVID-19 “behind the curtain to stay away because you are imperiling the lives of others.”
Ghana has recorded 262 news cases of infection, taking the total case count to 11, 118. So far, 48 people have died from the virus in the country while 3,979 persons have recovered.
