“My favorite rapper in Ghana is Omar Sterling of R2Bees. He’s always been. He’s my all-time favorite,” she stated. Gyakie noted that Sterling’s talent lies in his ability to weave powerful storytelling with intricate lyrics.
“Omar Sterling is a poet. His rap is unique. He shares life experiences and current events, and the way he constructs lyrics makes every message clear. He’s a great writer and storyteller.”
While Gyakie clarified that she is not a rapper herself, she enjoys the genre and occasionally blends rap into her own music. “I’m not a rapper, but I love rap. Sometimes I like to incorporate it into my songs for added flavor.”
Her eclectic style is influenced by a wide range of music from her upbringing, resulting in a sound that fuses highlife, soul, afrobeat, and more.
Currently, Gyakie is promoting her new single “Sankofa,” which serves as a prelude to her upcoming debut album titled After Midnight.
