Diamond Cement Ghana Limited (DCGL), an Indian-owned Portland cement manufacturer based in Aflao, has expressed interest in starting granite mining operations in Dzodze as soon as possible.
The coming into force of this project will allow the Diamond Group, the parent company, to follow its vision of being one of the best companies in the cement industry and in diversified fields in the countries it serves customers.
Diamond Solar Salt Limited, producers of Mama’s Choice Salt in Atiteti-Weta in the Area, is already a member of the Company, with plans to develop a 250-kilowatt solar power plant at the salt site.
Mr T. Rama Rao, the General Manager of DCGL, dropped the hint when the Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, Mr Sugandh Rajaram, paid a visit to the company’s management as part of his tour of the Volta Region.
The Chief of Staff visited the Diamond Solar Salt Limited and the Indian Farming firm INDO Ghana Ltd in the Central Tongu District, to show the High Commissioner the progress being made.
Mr. Rao commented that Diamond Group has been given fifteen years’ licenses to perform reconnaissance and prospecting for natural stone and prestigious material, respectively.
A mining license has been issued by the government for a land area of 24 acres in Ketu North Municipality , Dzodze Pedinu . The project is scheduled to begin shortly.

Mr Komla Allado, Manager, Quality Management and Environment at DCGL, affirms that the Organization is in compliance with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) legislation and guidance to the environment.
Participants also included Mr Dela Gadzanku, Chairman of Volta, Eastern and Oti Regional Chapter of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) and Rev Isaac Adza Tettey, the Volta Regional Economic Planning Officer.
