Eric Opoku, Member of Parliament for Asunafo South, has accused the government of diverting GH¢750 million in 2023 from the District Assemblies Common Fund to purchase computers for distribution to SHS pupils.
Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Minister of Education, said that the government will deliver over 1.4 million tablets to Wesley Girls Senior High School pupils under the free SHS policy over the next two months to help boost teaching and learning in the institution.
In an interview with Citi News monitored by ATL FM, the Asunafo South MP stated that the diversion will hinder district-level growth.

He further claimed that the government is about to transfer an extra GH¢750 million for the same reason.
“They [the government] took GH¢750 million from the Common Fund meant for the development of the assemblies and that is why most of the assemblies are not doing anything at all.
“And this year, they intend to add another GH¢750 million so that they will have GH¢1.5 billion for the purchase of those laptops.”
