The National Leadership of the four Labour Unions in public universities have given government a ‘one crucial week to reverse the directive’ on their Conditions Service.
Government’s failure to do this they say will compel the Labour Unions in the public universities in Ghana to embark on their intended strike on Thursday 13th October 2022.
This was contained in a Joint Press Statement issued by the leaders of the University Teachers Association of Ghana, (UTAG), Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA), Tertiary Education Workers Union of Ghana (TEWU-GH), and Senior Staff Association of Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG).
The Labour Unions on Wednesday, 28th September 2022 expressed their displeasure on their working conditions being overly varied at their expense, with the government intending to apply the same conditions without their knowledge selectively.

They, therefore, threatened to go on strike on 5th October 2022 should government fail to pay vehicle, off-campus and other allowances to improve their Conditions of Service.
In the statement issued today October 5, 2022, the leadership said the intended strike has become necessary since government’s reversal of the agreement with the unions negatively compromise the Conditions of Service of University workers.
They have therefore asked their union members to stay calm and cooperate with Leadership as they work to ensure their conditions of service improvement.
