President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo suggested that he intends to bring the Agyapa transaction to the 8th Parliament.
The President said: ‘let me, at this stage, remind the House that, at the sessions of this Parliament, government will return to engage the House on the measures it plans to take on the future of the Agyapa Transaction,’ while speaking in Parliament on Tuesday, 9 March 2021 when he gave his first State of the nation speech for his second term.
During his first term in office, President Nana Akufo-Addo, through the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF), set up Agyapa Royalties Limited to secure Ghana’s gold royalties.

This happened on 14 August after the parliament passed an agreement with the Ghana Government with Agyapa Mineral Royalty Limited amid the minority’s exit.
In return, the firm wanted to raise between $500 million and $750 million to the Government of Ghana and the London Stock Exchange to invest in construction ventures.
The transfer has been severely criticized. The government then postponed the agreement, and requested the then finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, to retable the contract before Parliament after a bruisesome appraisal made by the Office of the Special Procurator.
Until Legislative consent, the Office of the special prosecutor insisted that a number of procedures had been flouted.
But the finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, and other government officials have dismissed the office’s arguments.
