The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced a significant reduction in passport application fees, lowering the cost from GH₵500 to GH₵350, effective Thursday, 13 November 2025.
Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa explained that the 30% reduction is part of the government’s broader efforts to ease the financial burden on citizens and improve access to essential public services.
He noted that the decision also fulfils a government pledge to review passport processing costs and make travel documents more affordable for Ghanaians.
Mr. Ablakwa, in a Facebook post on Sunday, November 9, stated that the adjustment is intended to encourage more citizens to acquire valid travel documents through official channels and reduce reliance on middlemen and unauthorized agents.
The new fee structure, which applies to both new applications and renewals, will be implemented across all Passport Application Centres (PACs) nationwide and will cover standard passport application services.
