The Ministry of Works and Housing has launched the maiden edition of the Built Environment National Conference on Housing and Highways (BENCHH) in Accra.
The BENCHH project was launched to provide an open platform to share insights and chart a course towards a more sustainable and resilient future for Ghana’s works and housing sectors.
Speaking at the launch on Thursday, the Deputy Minister for Works and Housing, Prince Hamid Armah underscored the need for collaborative efforts and innovative solutions, to surmount the challenges presented, emphasizing that this will “pave the way for enduring progress and prosperity in our nation.”
The maiden edition of BENCHH 2024 is scheduled from May 27 to 29, 2024 under the theme “Enhancing Collaboration to tackle Ghana’s Housing and Hydrology Challenges.”
The three-day event will be held at the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons, Accra.
Prince Hamid Armah notes “This conference holds immense significance as they meet to deliberate on the pressing challenges in the sector to enhance further their collaborative efforts towards tackling Ghana’s housing and hydrology challenges.”
He affirmed that the ministry is working tirelessly to provide quality housing systems for all Ghanaians to improve the housing sector.
“From addressing the housing deficit to enhancing our flood resilient infrastructure and regulations, the Ministry’s efforts are linked to various sectors, driving socio-economic progress, and enhancing the overall quality of life for citizens.
“Thus, recognizing the Ministry’s diverse responsibilities highlights the importance of its endeavours in shaping the path of national development.”
Currently, the Ministry of Works and Housing is working at reducing or eliminating the 1.8 million housing deficits in the next ten years.
