The Government has announced an official scheduled programme for the three days of National Mourning, which begins today, August 7, 2025, to honour the key government officials who tragically passed away in the helicopter crash on August 6.
A statement issued by the presidency said the period is dedicated to honouring the departed and providing an opportunity for national reflection and remembrance.
Activities will commence at 1:00 pm today Thursday, August 7, 2025 with a public laying of flowers and lighting of candles. This activity is scheduled to continue on Friday, August 8 allowing further time for citizens to express their condolences and respect.
The period of national mourning will conclude on Saturday August 9, 2025 with an “Evening of Reflections and Memorials at 5:00 pm at the forecourt of the state house.
The statement emphasized that the mourning period offers an opportunity for national unity in grief, reflection, and solidarity, urging all citizens to observe it with the utmost dignity and respect.
