Gyam Institute of Technology and Industrialization (GITI) has held its maiden edition graduation ceremony for sixteen (16) students who studied surveying and mapping with the Institute.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the Rector of the Institute, Engineer Dr. Survey Ebenezer Ankomah Gyamera said GITI believes not everyone can attend university to learn and have technical and vocational training as such the institute seeks to offer a cheaper and more affordable alternative for those practising surveying to get certification.
To him, knowledge and Education in land surveying should not be reduced to only attaining such skills from higher institutions and survey schools.
He said GITI is committed to promoting and expanding access to TVET education in surveying and mapping in Ghana.
He believes that addressing the challenges and implementing the strategies in this regard, can pave the way for a brighter future.
He, therefore, urged the first batch of graduates to look forward with optimism and determination to shape a more inclusive, skilled, and proportional nation.
“…diligently help to avoid land conflict. Don’t double-sell land. Don’t double-survey land for somebody. Be diligent and work well, and the sky will be your limit” he urged.
The Board Chair of GITI, Professor Edward Marfo-Yiadom also admonished the graduands to leverage the golden opportunity given to them, expressing hope that the foundation laid by GITI would propel them to give off their best and deliver excellent service at all times.
He, however, advised the graduates to avoid working with mediocrity and rather strive for excellence based on the training and the skills offered them by the institute.
“Many Ghanaians are fed up with surveyors, but I think you will provide us with a new set of technical, knowledgeable people with the right expertise to help us get peace of mind.
“Those fraudulent deals may cut short the benefit you derive from your hard work. So, continue to do the right things, avoid temptations, and know that GITI has provided you with a place where you have received training for service not training for money,” he added.
