The Ghana Health Service has launched its national Polio Immunization Day campaign at the New Juaben Traditional Area in the Eastern Region.
Round 1 of the Polio Vaccination Campaign is set to commence on 17th October and end on 20th October 2024.
The chairman for the programme, the Adontenhene and the Oyokohene of New Juaben, Nana Osei Bonsu Sempe II stated that Polio remains a threat in parts of the world despite its treatment progress.
Nana Osei Bonsu Sempe II noted that polio vaccination is one of the most effective public health interventions, saving millions of lives yearly.
He emphasized that the upcoming campaign must focus on all children.
“As we work together in this campaign, we must remember that every child counts, it is our responsibility to ensure that no child is left unvaccinated,” he continued.
Nana Osei Bonsu Sempe II commended the Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service and their esteemed partners for spreading this critical initiative.
He noted that the collective effort to rid the nation of this crippling disease is as vital today as it has ever been emphasizing the gravity of this campaign cannot be overstated.
