Calls for the acceptance of the government’s Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP) deepen as the New Patriotic Party is appealing to Ghanaians to accept the DDEP in order to save the economy.
The finance ministry has given till today February 10, 2023, as an administrative window for individuals and institutions to sign up for the DDEP
Government had initially given February 7, 2023, for the sign-up of the programme but for the bondholders who experienced technical glitches to complete the online tender process, the date was extended to the end of February 10, 2023.
The ruling NPP believes that government will be able to attain macroeconomic stability if the DDEP becomes a success.
The Director of Communications for the NPP, Richard Ahiagbah pleaded with Ghanaians to accept the DDEP during a press conference in Accra.
Earlier, The Finance Ministry said over 50 percent of bondholders have subscribed to the programme.
They are hopeful that the opportunity government gave with the extension of the window for the completion of the tender process among others will yield the needed results.
