To keep the virus from spreading, the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has requested Ghanaians to follow the COVID-19 health protocols during the Easter celebrations.
“The pandemic remains a significant health hazard, and we advise all to strictly obey all COVID-19 prevention steps, such as social distancing, wearing facemasks, hand washing with soap under running water, and utilizing alcohol-based hand sanitizers,” the Association added.
This was reported in a joint statement signed by Dr Frank Ankobea, President of the Ghana Medical Association, and Dr Justice Yankson, General Secretary of the Ghana Medical Association.
The statement encouraged Ghanaians to prevent mass events synonymous with the season, such as “church conferences, picnics, beach parties, and other types of festivities typically seen in the Kwahu enclave,” according to the statement.

The Association noted the country’s ongoing downward trend in new regular COVID-19 diseases, active events, and related morbidity and mortality, and praised the government’s initiative to vaccinate 20 million people by the end of 2021, with nearly 600,000 people having obtained their first dose of the vaccine.
Noncompliance with the COVID-19 prevention steps, according to the statement, has the ability to intensify the dissemination of the disease in populations and erode the limited progress achieved so far.
“The Ghana Media Association (GMA) wishes all Ghanaians a joyous Easter.” In this moment of global health pandemic, let us rejoice Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection with caution.”
