Bashir Annan, a rapper and award-winning Ghanaian Afrobeats singer better known in the entertainment world as Gambo, is still growing his sparkling international music career and establishing important relationships with influential figures in the American music industry.

The well-known Ghanaian rapper recently had a successful networking session with US rap icon, actor, and entrepreneur Snoop Dogg, who is known in private as Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. Snoop Dogg met with other music executives after previously hosting meetings with legendary American icons like Jermaine Dupri, Timberland, and Jim Jones, who is confirmed to be on the Remix of GAMBO’s hit Record DRIP.

On the fringes of the African pre-Grammy Awards, in Los Angeles, California, the Vodafone Ghana Music Award-winning rapper and the renowned American rapper met.

The CEO of All We Do Is Work, Mr. Terry Williams, organized the Global Affairs event, which is hosted by Godfather Entertainment and features CEO Michael Harris, co-founder of Death Roll Records.

After the phenomenal release of his “New Era” Extended Play (EP), which included hits like “Drip,” “Beautiful,” and “Settle,” Gambo has been in the US for weeks working on his first full studio album.

Gambo gave Snoop Dogg an update on the upcoming record during their meeting. The ‘Drip’ rapper’s dedication to his music career delighted Snoop Dogg, who urged the ‘Settle’ singer to keep pushing and reaching new heights.

Then, Snoop Dogg, the owner of Death Row Records and the founder of Doggy Style Records, made a hint that he would be traveling to Ghana shortly.

Remarkably, Gambo—who has dedicated his illustrious music career to promoting Ghana’s positive aspects abroad in order to encourage travel and diaspora investment—took advantage of the chance to teach Snoop Dogg Twi, the Akan language, so that when he visits Ghana, he can easily converse with Ghanaians in their native dialect.

Snoop Dogg enjoyed himself immensely throughout the little teaching session, and even picked up a few new Twi terms, such Akwaaba, which means “welcome.”

Apart from his string of well-publicized encounters in the US, Gambo has been working with other African musicians over the past few months. He included Nigerian singer Goya Menor in his street hymn “Cut Soap” towards the end of 2023.

Later, he collaborated with another Nigerian musician, Lade, on the incredibly uplifting song “Nobody.”

which has so far had a great deal of airplay, been widely featured in print and digital media in Ghana and Nigeria, and entered the top 100 charts in Ghana.

As a budding entrepreneur and musician, Gambo is a firm believer in the ability of networking to further one’s career and open doors for business.
