The Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA), is expected to resume its sporting activities this month after a two year break that saw the suspension of all of its sports programs due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Government of Ghana lifted the suspension on schools’ sports prompting the Universities sports governing body to put in place plans and preparations to resume the activities of Universities sports.
In the wake of this and coaches of the various schools, have been training their athletes for the past months as the 25th edition of the GUSA Cross Country competition beckons.
The 25th edition of the 10km race is set to be held at the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), Ho from 11th August to 14th August, 2022 under the theme ‘Running for Health.’

GUSA will continue with the organization of GUSA Games at KNUST in November 2022 to wrap up the calendar’s sporting activities.
Noteworthy, the last time GUSA organized the cross country was in 2019 in Sunyani when the University for Development Studies (UDS) defended its title in the women’s category by placing first with 34 points while UCC defended the crown in the men’s division for the 5th consecutive year after amassing 62 points.
Thirteen (13) Universities are expected to participate in the 25th edition of the competition under the patronage of Professor Lydia Aziato, Vice-Chancellor of UHAS.
The Universities are; University of Ghana (UG), University of Cape Coast (UCC), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), University of Education, Winneba (UEW), University of Development Studies (UDS), University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Ghana Institute of Management and Professional Studies (GIMPA), University of Health and Allied Sciences, University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) and University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR).
