The Ghana Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Service has suspended three heads of technical institutes following credible reports of unauthorized fee collection and extortion.
The affected schools are Agona Swedru Technical Institute in the Central Region, Sunyani Technical Institute in the Bono Region, and Madina Technical Institute in the Greater Accra Region.
In a statement, Management said the allegations involve several unapproved charges, including admission fees, boarding protocol payments, residential-status change fees, fashion-practical charges, bedsheet payments, and PTA-related levies.

“These actions breach the government’s Free TVET Policy and contradict our directive for fairness and transparency in admissions,” the statement said.
Investigations and Interim Measures
The Ghana TVET Service has set up independent investigative committees to probe the matter. Their findings will determine further disciplinary action.
Pending investigations, the three heads have been placed on 30-day administrative leave. Their responsibilities have been reassigned to:
- Madam Hannah Asamoah, Central Regional Director—Agona Swedru Technical Institute
- Mr. Gabriel Gyamfi, Bono Regional Director — Sunyani Technical Institute
- Engr. Juliana Nkrumah, Greater Accra Regional Director — Madina Technical Institute
Zero Tolerance for Corruption
The Service reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance on corruption, extortion, and misconduct, warning that such behaviour undermines Ghana’s TVET system.
“Management remains resolute in upholding accountability, transparency, and fairness in Technical and Vocational Education across Ghana,” it added.

The Service assured parents and students that it remains committed to protecting the integrity of the Free TVET Policy and ensuring access to quality, corruption-free technical education.
