The Ghana Police Service has recovered 43 luxury vehicles believed to have been stolen abroad and trafficked into the country, in a major transnational operation conducted in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and INTERPOL.
Speaking at a joint press conference held in Accra yesterday, August 4, 2025, by the Cyber Security Authority and the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, Director-General of the CID, COP Lydia Donkor, revealed that the stolen vehicles were intercepted between January and July 2025.
“These 43 vehicles are mainly high-value, luxurious vehicles such as Rolls-Royce, Audi Q8, Porsche, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz,” COP Donkor disclosed. “They were stolen from countries including the Netherlands, Spain, Belgium, Canada, the United States, Germany, Italy, and France.”
She noted that the seizure forms part of an intensified effort to dismantle vehicle smuggling syndicates operating across international borders.
“The CID administration has stepped up efforts to fight vehicle crime by working in close collaboration with both national and international security agencies,” she said.
In a separate briefing at the same event, Acting Director-General of the Cyber Security Authority, Divine Agbeti, announced the arrest of more than 60 individuals both foreign nationals and Ghanaians linked to online scams and cyber fraud.
The arrests followed joint raids at locations including Dodowa Sasabi in the Ubuntu Estate and Botianor, Ngleshie Amanfrom. “Items retrieved during the operations included 40 laptops and 30 mobile phones suspected to have been used in various cyber fraud schemes,” he said.
The Ghana Police Service and the Cyber Security Authority assured the public of continued collaboration to stem the tide of crime and improve national security.
“We remain committed to efficient partnerships with international agencies to protect our borders and maintain law and order,” COP Lydia Donkor emphasized.
