Temporary travel restrictions have been imposed on citizens of Israel, South Korea, and Malta by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
The Ministry said in separate news statements dated Friday, December 17, 2021, that the restrictions would last 14 days and will take effect on Monday, December 20.
Israel would be permitted extraordinary humanitarian instances of governmental tasks.
“Permission would have to be obtained from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration in exceptional cases,” it said.
In the case of Malta, the Ministry indicated that “the Government of Ghana does not recognize any vaccine certificate from Malta”.
Although the reason for the temporary travel prohibitions is unknown, it is presumably connected to the Omicron variant of Covid-19.
“To this end the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration wishes to state that the general public should take note of the above and adhere to it accordingly.”
