The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has charged Asante Kotoko assistant coach David Ocloo for remarks he made criticizing the match referees after the team’s 1-0 loss to Heart of Lions at Kpando.
Section 34(6)(d) of the GFA Premier League Regulations, 2019 stipulates that any remarks made about match officials in a post-match review interview may be regarded as misbehavior that tarnishes the reputation of the game. His remarks were found to be in violation of this regulation.
Ocloo voiced his dissatisfaction with the refereeing decisions in an interview conducted following the game, saying, “I wouldn’t want to talk about the referee, but we all saw what happened.” I believe that our referees must improve if we want our football to advance.”

The GFA, however, has objected to these remarks, stating that they are unfair and cast doubt on the game’s integrity.
Ocloo has been given until Wednesday, February 28, 2024, by the GFA, to address the charge. The FA highlighted in a statement, the value of respectful discourse and fair play with regard to match officials.
The GFA states that any alleged misbehavior will be the focus of regulatory action.
