Over GH¢15 Million Disbursed to Ease Parental Burden and Resource Schools
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has disbursed GH¢15,849,920 nationwide to cover the 2025 WASSCE practical fees for all final-year students in public Senior High Schools (SHSs).
This funding initiative is part of the government’s broader commitment to supporting equitable access to quality education while reducing the financial strain on parents and guardians ahead of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination.

Funding Covers Practical Exam Materials and Logistics
According to a press statement signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at GES, the released funds are specifically allocated to procure essential materials and logistical support required to facilitate the smooth conduct of science and technical practical examinations.
“With the release of the funds, GES seeks to facilitate a smooth and well-coordinated examination process that enables students to focus on their academic work, while relieving parents and guardians of any such financial burden,” the statement emphasized.
Regional and School Authorities Charged to Use Funds Judiciously
GES has directed all regional, district, and school management teams to ensure the proper and transparent use of the disbursed funds. The Service noted that strict monitoring mechanisms will be employed to guarantee accountability and proper fund utilization.
“Management will continue to monitor the utilisation processes to ensure compliance and to maintain high standards in the administration of the examination,” the statement added.
Commitment to Educational Equity and Exam Preparedness
The GES reiterated its commitment to creating a level playing field for all candidates by removing cost barriers that could potentially affect student participation or performance in the WASSCE.
“The Service appreciates the cooperation of all stakeholders in advancing quality education and remains dedicated to creating an enabling environment for the success of all students,” the release concluded.
