Ghana’s fuel tanker drivers have called off their sit-down strike over poor working conditions.
The Ghana National Petroleum Tanker Drivers Union declared an indefinite sit-down strike on Tuesday, seeking better working conditions, particularly in terms of compensation.
However, following a discussion with all parties, the tanker drivers released a statement calling off the sit-down strike.
The statement noted that the structure for their payment had been established, and that implementation was planned to begin by the end of June 2024.

The union members stated at a press conference that despite an already agreed-upon policy framework aimed at improving their salaries and working conditions, which has been pending since November 2023, the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) and the sector Ministry have refused to implement the policy.
