Charlotte Osei, a former chair of the Electoral Commission (EC), has been appointed Safohen of Nkum Asafo Group #4.
The former EC Chair offers Safohen Nana Ama Kesson as her stool name in a Facebook post from June 8.
In September of this year, she will serve as the warrior leader of Nkum Asafo group 4 at the Fetu Oguaa Afahye Festival.
EC is planning a three-day voter registration drive in August. In a Facebook post, Charlotte Osei shared photographs of herself carrying a whip, a symbol of leadership, and dressed like a queen mother.
The people and chiefs of Cape Coast Traditional Area, located in Ghana’s Central Region, celebrate Fetu Afahye every year.
All locals from all walks of life will travel to celebrate the festival during the one-week celebration, which runs from September 1 to September 7.
The Omanhene, the supreme leader of the Oguaa, is imprisoned for a week in order to consult with the gods before to the commencement of the Fetu Afahye celebrations.
Within the municipality, it is against the law to drum, dance, make noise, or have fun. Additionally, fishing in the Fosu Lagoon is prohibited during this time.
The Omanhene (Paramount chief) as part of the event, pours libation to the deity, Nana Fosu. The Omanhene then officially opens the lagoon by casting his net thrice into the waters this is to signify the lifting of the ban on lagoon fishing.

The grand day of the Fetu Afahye festival falls on the first Saturday in September as a procession takes place around the community with dancing and merrymaking.
Fetu Afahye marks the beginning of a new year for the Oguaa people of Cape Coast. The festival closes with an interdenominational service at the Chapel Square.
