Former Deputy Attorney General Alfred Tuah Yeboah has mounted a strong defense for his former boss, Godfred Yeboah Dame, insisting that the ex-Attorney General has done nothing wrong to warrant the charges leveled against him.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Tuah Yeboah described the allegations against Mr. Dame as “purely political” and aimed at tarnishing his reputation. “This matter is purely political, and I think it’s also coming out of dislike for Godfred Dame,” he said.
He further claimed that the complainant in the case was fully aware of Mr. Dame’s innocence but was determined to pursue the matter regardless.
“The complainant in this particular case knows deep down that this matter wouldn’t have arisen if he hadn’t gone to see one of the relatives of the Supreme Court judge to speak to Godfred Dame. He knows that Dame is innocent, but he still wants to press it. We are ready for him. Godfred is ready for him,” Mr. Tuah Yeboah stated.
His comments follow Godfred Yeboah Dame’s appearance before the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service to assist with investigations into a petition filed by Richard Jakpa, the Director of Special Operations at the National Security Secretariat.
Responding to the petition, Mr. Tuah Yeboah maintained that the accusations were baseless and that Mr. Dame’s professional record speaks for itself.
“The former Attorney General, in his office, discharged his duties with all diligence. I was his deputy, and I can state without any provocation that he has done nothing untoward to merit this kind of charge that has been brought against him. But at the end of the day, truth will stand. Godfred will be vindicated,” he affirmed.
