The state-assisted funeral which saw people from all walks of life attending offered the ex-players the opportunity to come face to face with the mortal remains of the late Atsu who died last month in a devastating earthquake in Turkey were he was playing for Hatayapor.
The 31-year-old lost his life after coming of the bench to score the winner for his club in a 1-0 victory over Kasimpasa in the Turkish Super Lig before he was trapped in the Turkey earthquake.
Atsu was found dead days after he was reported to have been trapped under the bubble following a 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit South-Central Turkey and Syria.
