Former Member of Parliament for Anyaa-Sowutuom, Dr. Dickson Adomako Kissi, has underscored the importance of fairness and transparency in the upcoming Akwatia by-election.
In an interview with Joy News, Dr. Adomako Kissi said the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) interest is not only in securing victory but also in ensuring that the contest is conducted in a free and transparent manner.
“My biggest expectation from the NPP is that we want it to be a very fair playing ground. Once it’s fair and we win, fantastic. If it’s fair and we lose, still fantastic,” he remarked.
He further urged the people of Akwatia to rally behind the NPP, highlighting the party’s contributions to the constituency over the years.
“The key point here is that we want this by-election to be professional and guided by principles. We believe the NPP has served the people of Akwatia well, and in light of the sad passing of Ernest Kumi, it will be most appropriate for the constituency to support us to continue the good works,” he added.
The Electoral Commission has scheduled the Akwatia by-election for tomorrow, September 2, 2025, following the sudden passing of the constituency’s Member of Parliament, Ernest Kumi.
