Sampson Agyei, a 38-year-old security officer with Koforidua’s Attorney-General’s Department (AG), has been sentenced to 31 years in jail for having sex with his biological daughter.
All four counts of defilement of a child under the age of 16, incest, abuse, and death threat were dismissed by the Accused.
After a full hearing, he was convicted by a Koforidua circuit court presided over by Madam Marian Affoh.
Ms Ellen Samlafo, Assistant State Attorney, claimed that the accuser, Agnes Sakyibea Agyei, a Senior High School graduate, was the Accused’s biological daughter.
She said that her father had sex with her when she was 14 years old, after she had moved from her paternal grandmother’s home to live with her father.
The grandmother was aware of the act and warned her not to tell anybody about it because it was taboo.
The Accused continued his heinous behavior of having sexual contact with her by threatening her with a knife whenever he felt like it.
The plaintiff, who could no longer stand it, told the school’s Chaplain about the father’s actions during his first year at Asesewa Senior High School.
The Accused and his mother were then asked to speak with the headmaster and chaplain about the matter, but he never did.
The accused offered the plaintiff a bottle of lvaro drink on July 24, 2019, about 2030 hours, but she refused to drink it because she suspected it was laced with sleeping pills.
She then told the Accused’s girlfriend, Martha Ayipe, of his behavior.

When approached, the Accused became enraged and struck the plaintiff in the head with a center table in his room, threatening to kill her.
The plaintiff fled the accused person’s home at midnight, seeking refuge with a man and his relatives.
The man and his son accompanied the claimant to the police station the following day.
The defendant, who was then convicted, initially dismissed the charges, but later acknowledged them after an interrogation and in his caution statement.
The complainant was subsequently given a police medical form to sign and send to the police, in which the accused was arraigned.
