Police in Dubai have arrested five Ghanaians for drug trafficking.
As a result, one of them is serving a 10-year prison sentence.
They were apprehended at Dubai International Airport while trying to smuggle marijuana into the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the first quarter of 2021.
According to a statement issued by Ghana’s consulate in Dubai, the substances typically hidden in food products were reportedly provided to travelers by their agents in Ghana.
As a result, they are warning travelers not to accept goods from agents or other individuals until they can determine the exact contents of those parcels.
