A massive fire broke out at the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) warehouse in Cape Coast on Wednesday, destroying electrical cables worth thousands of Ghana cedis.
The fire, which started in the outdoor stockyard, damaged approximately 60 drums of 2×25mm aluminium electrical cables.
Despite the intensity of the blaze, no casualties were recorded, thanks to the swift response of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in the Central Region.

Investigation and Fire Safety Advisory
The cause of the fire remains unknown, and officials are conducting investigations to determine what may have triggered the incident.
The Central Regional Commander of the GNFS, ACFOII Merinda Mary Attigah-Mensah, who was present at the scene, emphasized the need for strict fire safety measures, particularly in the dry season.
She urged businesses and facility managers to prioritize fire prevention strategies to avoid similar incidents.
Authorities have assured the public that they are assessing the extent of damage and taking necessary steps to prevent future occurrences.
