Ghana’s Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, is set to present his maiden budget to Parliament on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.
The budget is expected to outline government policies aimed at resetting and accelerating economic transformation, in line with President John Mahama’s vision.
The Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, announced this at a media briefing following the first Cabinet meeting under the new administration.
Budget to Reflect National Economic Dialogue Recommendations
According to Mr. Kwakye Ofosu, the budget will be informed by recommendations from the National Economic Dialogue, which is scheduled for March 3 and 4, 2025.

The dialogue will bring together economic experts, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to propose solutions for Ghana’s economic challenges.
Dire Economic Situation Revealed
During the Cabinet meeting, Dr. Forson painted a grim picture of the economy, stating that the current economic conditions are worse than anticipated before the elections.
The budget will therefore seek to address pressing financial issues while laying the groundwork for long-term economic stability.
Key Policy Focus Areas
The first Cabinet meeting set clear benchmarks for ministers, with discussions centered on:
- The rollout of the 24-hour economy policy, led by Presidential Advisor Mr. Gossie Tandoh
- Agricultural transformation strategies to boost food security
- Security briefings on national safety and stability
- Measures to tackle Ghana’s economic challenges
As anticipation builds, Ghanaians will be keen to see how the budget addresses economic recovery, job creation, and key government policies in the coming months.
