He however called on government to give the needed support to such initiatives in order to help reduce the unequal distribution of resources in the rural areas.
“I hope there will be a political will in the reform of education to take in to account this initiative by FKIF, because the radio has the propensity engage or arrest the attention of kids effectively.”
Speaking in an interview with ATL FM News, founder and president of FKIF Mr. Prince Messiah Yeboah Hayford explained that the initiative has it prime focus on school children who are not able to access government’s online tuition in the wake of the pandemic as a result of resource constraints.
He said in order to achieve the intended purpose the foundation has partnered with the community leaders who, as part of their support to the program, monitor the school children to ensure that they are making good use of the program.
Ehunabobrem Prah Agyensem VI supported the initiative with an amount of ten thousand Ghana Cedis (10,000) to be used to extend the programme to other rural communities in the region and eventually to other parts of the country.
The event was attended by some queen mothers in the region, including the Nana Amba Eyiaba, Krontihema of Oguaa Traditional Area and a delegation from GBC led by the Deputy Director Ing. Augustus Yamson, assembly members from the benefiting communities and some stakeholders in the education sector.
