The Ghana Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has warned manufacturers and dealers of unregistered body enhancement products on the Ghanaian market to abstain from such conduct.
The FDA said that this conduct is unlawful and may have a negative impact on consumers’ health.
In a statement signed by the Chief Executive Officer, Delese Darko, the FDA said that as part of its regular market monitoring and surveillance, they have seen with grave worry how certain businesses are manufacturing, marketing, and promoting body enhancement goods without the authority’s approval and it is in violation of the Public Health Act 2012 (Act 851).
Sections 111 and 114 of Public Health Order Act 851 of 2012 require anybody engaged in the manufacture or advertising of regulated goods to get FDA clearance.
