The Ajumako District Police Command in the Central Region is looking into what caused a father to go crazy, shooting his wife and children before killing himself in Enyan Abowinum.
Kwesi Tandoh, 40, is said to have gone maniacal at 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday and shot his wife Abena Nyamekye, 43, and one of his sons, Richmond Tandoh, 14.
Three more children, ages five, nine, and seventeen, who survived the bloodbath are being counseled in a shelter.
According to Irene Oppong, Public Relations Officer for the Central Regional Police, the Ajumako District Police Command responded to information received from Enyan Abowinum that Kwesi Tandoh had shot his wife and one of their children.
The shooting
Tandoh had locked their residence and carried a gun, shooting and threatening to shoot anybody who dared to reduce his family members, according to DSP Oppong.
Bloody scene
DSP Oppong stated that when officers entered the room, they saw Richmond 14 and the father in a pool of blood with gunshot wounds to their heads and chests, while the wife was fighting for her life.
She stated that Abena Nyamekye was brought to Ajumako District Hospital for treatment, but Richmond and Tandoh, the suspect’s father, were confirmed dead upon arrival.
Abena Nyamekye, 43, died later while undergoing treatment.

The other children, ages five, nine, and seventeen, were spared the assault because they hid in the room.
Meanwhile, the deceased’s remains have been sent to the Our Lady of Grace hospital morgue in Breman Asikuma for preservation and autopsy.
According to DSP Oppong, items discovered at the crime scene included a single barrel shotgun, a locally produced handgun, a cutlass, and weedicide.
Social welfare and counseling
DSP Oppong claimed that the command, in coordination with the regional social welfare office, had placed the children in a shelter, while the University of Cape Coast Guidance and Counseling Unit is providing psychological help to the children, who seemed traumatized.
