16 passengers are feared dead, with more than dozens others sustaining various degrees of injuries in an accident at Gomoa Okyereko, in the Central Region, Tuesday dawn.
The accident involved a Yutong bus with registration number GT 5866-L and a Fuel Tanker number WR 2063-10.
The Ghana National Fire Service, Winneba Fire Station around 0517hrs, received a distress call reporting an accident at Gomoa Okyereko but the cause of the accident is not readily known.
This has resulted in heavy traffic on the Accra-Cape Coast highway but currently, Ghana Ambulance Service and the Police Service are with GNFS at the scene to help bring everything under control.
Victims have been conveyed to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital for treatment.

The Ghana National Fire Service Central Regional Public Relations Officer Division Officer III, Abdul Wasiu Hudu in an interview with ATLFMNEWS noted that, upon arrival at the scene of the accident, the fire service team had to put safety measures in place to avoid explosion from the fuel tanker vehicle involved in the accident.
He notes that efforts are being made by the Ghana National Fire Service and the Ghana Police Service to ascertain the cause of the accident.
He also urged drivers to be circumspect in their dealings on the road emphasizing that, the safety of their passengers should be their priority.
