Extensive Renovation works of the first Elementary School in Ghana, Philip Quaque Boys in Cape Coast have begun in earnest.
The site has currently been handed over to Cadlag Construction Company Limited, which is a construction firm based in Accra.
According to the CEO of Cadlag Construction Company, Mrs. Cynthia Adjei, the facility after the renovation work will have an ICT center, a football pitch, and a modern facility classroom for both the Philip Quaque boys and girls school.
She explained that as the facility has been awarded to her construction firm, she will ensure the work is done to ensure it’s handed over in the shortest possible time.
“We came for an open tender and we won the tender and the contract has been awarded to us… A consultant had put in a lot of work. I think the discussion has been going on for about a year now. Everything is in place. We are here to work and we promise that we are going to put in our best and hand over the project in a very short time” she said.
Mrs. Cynthia Adjei who spoke to the media after the site was handed over to her company said “the timeline for the project is between a year and a year and a half.”
The renovation of the Philip Quaque Boys School is in fulfillment of President Akufo-Addo’s, promise which he made during the 2022 Independence Day Anniversary Celebration held in Cape Coast.
You will recall that during the event celebration, President Akufo –Addo said the rehabilitation of the school comes as a gift for the people of Cape Coast in commemoration of the 65th Independence Anniversary.

Philip Quaque Boys School is the first formal school in Ghana built by the first black Anglican priest in Cape Coast, Philip Quaque, to inculcate in children the Christian doctrines he had received from overseas.
Over the years the school has been in a dilapidated state despite being used by basic school students within the Cape Coast Metropolis.
The Cape Coast Metropolitan Director of Education, MRS. PHYLLIS ASANTE-KROBEA pledged to ensure the facility is maintained to protect the historic facility.
