With barely a few days to the Easter Celebrations, road users have been cautioned to make their safety a priority while using the roads.
Stakeholders, especially in the National Road Safety Commission, are always concerned with the increased number of accidents during such festive seasons due to the increased number of road users on the roads during the holidays.
As such, the National Road Safety Commission in the Central Region is drumming home the need for individuals: commercial and private drivers, passengers, and pedestrians among others to stay safe during the Easter holidays while using the road.
The Assistant Planning Manager of the National Road Safety Commission for Central Region, Kwame Tenkorang Osei stressed that to mitigate the risks of road accidents during this Easter holidays, NRSA says drivers must do pre-departure checks before their cars leave the station.
He explains that the checks should not only be about checking oil, but wipers, headlights, and car brakes must all be properly assessed before the vehicle is used.
This he said can help reduce road accidents, especially during the holidays.
He emphasized that as the festive season approaches, all and sundry must know that road safety is a collective and shared responsibility of every Ghanaian.
