Ernest Yaw Anim has officially been sworn in as the Member of Parliament for the Kumawu constituency.
On June 6, 2023, Alban Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament, administered the oath of allegiance to Ernest Yaw Anim, congratulating and welcoming him to Parliament.
“Congratulations, Honourable Member. You are now duly sworn in as the Member of Parliament for the Kumawu constituency,” he said.
To understand how the house works, the speaker handed over the New MP’s working tools to him which included the 1992 Constitution and the Standing Orders.
Anim won the by-election held on May 23, 2023, with 15,264 votes, following the Electoral Commission’s certification.
The newly elected New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP succeeded the late Philip Basoah as the MP.
In the by-election, Anim defeated the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Kwasi Amankwaa, and two independent candidates, both named Kwaku Duah, with 3,723, 2,478, and 62 votes, respectively.
