The newly constituted Governing Council of the University of Cape Coast has been charged to provide effective leadership for national development and also focus on their core mandate and provide leadership that would bring about peace and unity in the University.
This was stated by the Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum when he inaugurated and administered the oaths of Office and Secrecy to the Governing Council at a ceremony in Accra yesterday.
He said the council should ensure that the university is placed to be globally competitive in the pursuit of higher education while assuring them of the government’s commitment to involving the universities’ leadership in the development of new high school curriculum to improve teaching and learning.
On his part, the Chairman of the UCC Governing Council, Professor Oteng Mireku, pledged to uphold the policy directives and mandates of the institution and also leverage the achievements of the previous Council towards the full realization of the University’s mission.
The members of the University of Cape Coast Governing Council are Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong, Most. Rev. Titus Awortwi Pratt, Dr. Samuel Awuku, Maame Adwoa Gyekye Jandoh, Dr. Justus Deikumah, Dr. Samuel Bert Boadi-Kusi, Mr. Christopher Eduako Dadson, Mr. Eric Adjei, Mr. Stephen Williams, Dr. Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai, Madam Cecelia Adzo Wofesor, and Mr. Kobina Sam Bentsi-Enchill.
