The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has condemned the invasion of Ukraine by Russia leading to loss of civilian lives and displacement of many others.
A communique issued on February 27, 2022, by ECOWAS is asking the two parties to engage in dialogue aimed at resolving their differences.
“ECOWAS is following with great concern the military invasion of the Republic of Ukraine by Russia which has led to human causalities, particularly among civilians” the statement added.
It also called on both parties to make it a priority to ensure the safety of their members who live in Ukraine.
