According to Joy News reports, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) cut off the Energy Ministry’s power supply on March 14th.
The disconnection plunged the entire Ministry into darkness for almost half a day.
According to the sources, the Ministry’s power was restored when it had paid its debt.

In an effort to raise money, the electricity distributor will start a large disconnection exercise on Monday, March 20.
The exercise is using almost all ECG staff from top management to junior officers to retrieve all the monies owed to them.
The Managing Director of ECG, Samuel Dubik Mahama, said the company is owed over GH¢5 billion from the month of September 2022 to February 2023.
SOEs and MDAs are responsible for the bulk of this debt.
He continued by saying that the agencies that refused to pay their bills right now will suffer the same fate as the Energy Ministry.
Mr. Dubik Mahama has visited all of ECG’s operational zones in advance of this exercise to educate the staff on how to approach the mobilization of the income and to respect the client at all times.
He also told the workers that everyone needs to start acting like ECG is a business and not a charity.
At the conclusion of the exercise, it is anticipated that all of the debt will be recovered.
