The Electoral Commission has published the Ballot Statistics ahead of the 2024 General Elections.
In a statement issued on October 14, the EC emphasized it took into account the total number of voters on the 2024 Provisional Voters Register (PVR) plus a two per cent increase.
“While the Commission welcomes and encourages a total voter turnout on Election Day, it also recognizes that not every registered voter will vote in the 2024 General Election,” stated Samuel Tettey, Deputy Chairman of the EC.
“The Commission is confident that the methodology relied upon, that is utilizing the total number of voters on the PVR plus a two per cent increase to guide the printing of ballots, is adequate and will not result in shortfalls or unnecessary wastage. This methodology of adding a percentage increase has been used by the Commission to guide the printing of ballots since 1992.”
Meanwhile, the EC has reassured the public that they will continue to operate transparently and ensure a smooth and fair electoral process.
