The Electoral Commission (EC) has taken a major step toward the 2024 general elections by officially presenting the final voters’ register to the country’s political parties.
At a gathering on Wednesday, November 6 in Accra, EC Chairperson Jean Mensa addressed political party representatives, emphasizing the importance of the finalized register for ensuring a transparent and credible election.
Madam Jean Mensah noted that the Commission had committed to providing this final register by the end of the first week of November, and delivered it slightly ahead of schedule.
She said “At the meeting of IPAC on the 15th of October, we indicated that this presentation would be made to you at the end of the first week of November. However, with the help of God, we have been able to do that two days before the 8th which signifies the end of the first week of November.”
The EC Chair mentioned that after a national exhibition of the revised Provisional Voters Register, 158 issues were reported by voters and each issue has now been addressed, clearing the path for what she described as “a robust, certified voters register.”
“I am pleased to note that all the issues have been resolved and as we speak, we have no further issues regarding the final voters register…I am pleased to note that we now have a robust and credible final certified voters register which is fit to deliver a credible transparent, fair, peaceful and glorious election come the 7th of December 2024,” she continued.
