The Kaneshie District Court has fined the driver of a black Mercedes-Benz who was seen in a viral video executing reckless stunts at Accra’s airport traffic light intersection GHS 1,800.
Kofi Sasa Buckman, the driver of the Mercedes-Benz, was apprehended by police on Sunday, October 24, for careless driving at the Airport intersection.
He was charged with reckless driving and risky driving endangering other drivers.
He pled guilty to all of the allegations leveled against him.
The defendant was scheduled to appear in court for the first time last Monday, but he became unwell, according to police.
He was subsequently taken to an undisclosed medical institution for observation.
In the video, he (Kofi Sasa) was seen stationary on hatch markings on the road besides cars that had stopped in response to the traffic light turning red.
He then drove into the center of the four-lane road and began driving in tight circles, which stunt drivers referred to as doughnuts, before rushing away while the signal was still red.
