Rapper Drake of Canada lost a $300,000 wager when his team lost the Copa America semifinal to Argentina 2-0.
Drake could have won an estimated $2.88 million if Canada had upset Argentina, the current world champions, at the total odds of $9.60.
On Tuesday afternoon, Drake posted his wager slip to Instagram, along with the witty but upbeat statement, “This could get Messi @stake.”
Drake has now lost two bets this year, the first being a $565,000 wager on Tyson Fury to defeat Oleksandr Usyk in May.

Argentina advanced to the final on Tuesday night at New York’s MetLife Stadium thanks to goals from eight-time Ballon D’Or winner Lionel Messi and Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez.
On Wednesday, July 10, the winner of Uruguay vs. Colombia in the semifinal matchup will play Argentina.
On Sunday, July 14, the eagerly awaited championship game is set to take place at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
Canada will face the loser of Uruguay vs. Colombia in the competition for third place.
