Ghanaian artiste Kwaw Kese has contributed his voice to the country’s raging debate over the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer intersex (LGBTQ) individuals.
Kwaw Kese voiced concern about the rising zeal with which members of the LGBTQI+ community are pursuing their agenda. According to the musician, their actions portray a picture of desperation since they want to force their lifestyle on Ghanaians.
The ‘Abordam’ hitmaker claimed that members of the LGBTQ community may go about their daily lives without public scrutiny.
“This thing has been there when we were growing up we heard and knew people who behaved like women (Kojo Besia). The problem I have now is they are trying to impose it on us.
“You can be whoever you want to be, but be that in peace. It is your right to do it in peace. But if you bring it into our faces, I think that is not Ghanaian… Maybe my family member might be straight, but seeing what people are doing, they might go and try it.”
Kwaw mentioned that several of his international pals identify as LGBTQ. But he has nothing against them since it is a lifestyle choice they have made.
He added that such persons should carry out their activities in a discreet manner rather than pushing them on Ghanaians.
Speaking on the anti-LGBTQI bill that has yet to be approved, Kwaw Kese indicated that legislators desire the bill because the group is attempting to get public prominence.
“The parliamentarians should not even waste time to be thinking about a bill to be passed. This thing has been there. It’s there whether we like it or not. Now they want their right to be protected, and that is why these politicians also want to pass a bill,” Kwaw Kese said.
