Award winning musician, Sarkodie has offered free advice to up coming musicians on how to survive, build their careers, and maintain a successful and long spanning career.
Michael Owusu Addo, popularly referred to as Sarkodie, dropped some heavy punchlines on Medikals new single, “WE MADE IT”, when he outlined some four stages a musician would go through in his or her career.
In the song, Sarkodie mentions the first stage, which he terms popping on the streets. According to the multiple BET Winner, the first stage is the most difficult part where a musician would pop on the music scene without any support or assistance and would most likely be disrespected because he or she is not famous. Still in the first phase or first stage, it gets to a time when after being consistent you start gaining publicity and every fan or music lover would want to associate with your brand and that is when they start tweeting or promoting you willingly on social media.

The next stage is set off by a huge support and fan base by the youth who would be screaming your name and idolizing you. At this stage, you are a world asset. Everyone including the fine ladies would want you as a partner. This is where your career is at it’s peak. The media would show you love, you would win a lot of awards, get more shows and make more money and become very influential to the extent that people who previously used to be above your social status would form close ties with you and open up more opportunities for you.

The third stage is the trickiest part, where after amassing so much wealth, and reaching an all time peak in your career, colleagues and some fans alike would heavily criticize you. Sometimes, they would even envy your material possessions and achievements. At this level, they would no longer hail you like previously. Your actions and career would be met with constant harsh criticisms and negative energy. This would make you then have a toll on your mental health because that’s the trickiest part of your career. However, to survive that huge career scare, he admonishes musicians to grow thick skinned and not panic but rather be bold.
